General practice

Injection & storage.

Many products in this guide are given by injection under the skin using a small, thin needle. This is called a subcutaneous injection. Basic safety rules include:

Why the label still matters

Not every product or formulation has the same storage requirements. The instructions on the specific product label or via the QR-code should therefore take priority over a general rule in this guide.

Six basic rules

Before, during and after the injection.

  1. 01

    Use a needle once

Use an injection needle only once. Dispose of it safely, preferably in a sharps container.

  2. 02

    Clean the skin first

Clean the skin first with an alcohol wipe to reduce the risk of infection.

  3. 03

    Avoid damaged skin

Do not inject into irritated skin or scar tissue. Change injection sites so the skin can recover.

  4. 04

    Keep clear of the navel

Keep the injection site at least 4 cm away from your navel (belly button).

  5. 05

    Prepare shortly before use

Prepare the injection shortly before use, not many hours in advance.

  6. 06

    Do not shake hard

Do not shake a peptide solution hard. If gentle mixing is required, slowly roll or turn the container instead.

Storage

When not to use a product.

  • Do not use a product after its expiry date.

  • Do not use a product if the colour has clearly changed, the liquid has become cloudy, or it looks very different from normal.

  • Keep products away from sunlight and strong light. Always follow the storage instructions on the label or product information.

The instructions for the specific product are always more important than the general rules in this guide. Different products can have different storage conditions and shelf lives.
